THE BATTLE TO KEEP VASCULAR SURGERY AT Q.A. HAS BEEN WON.
THANKS TO PRESSURE FROM LOCAL COUNCILLORS AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC THE BATTLE TO KEEP VASCULAR SURGERY AT Q.A. HAS BEEN WON.
THE PROPOSAL TO OPERATE A NETWORK SYSTEM BETWEEN Q.A. AND UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL SOUTHAMPTON HAS BEEN DROPPED BECAUSE SURGEONS COULD NOT AGREE ON A NEW NETWORK SYSTEM BETWEEN THE TWO. THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENT WILL CONTINUE AND BE MONITORED OVER THE NEXT 12-24 MONTHS.
THE MESSAGE TO THE NHS IS THAT LOCAL PEOPLE WANT LOCAL SERVICES AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE SUPER HOSPITAL THAT WE WERE PROMISED AT THE TIME OF HASLAR
BEING CLOSED DOWNGRADED IN ANY WAY.
THE WHOLE EXERCISE HAS BEEN TIME CONSUMING AND A COSTLY WASTE OF MONEY SAID COUNCILLOR DENNIS WRIGHT WHO IS A MEMBER OF THE HAMPSHIRE HEALTH OVERVIEW AND SCRUTINY COMMITTEE.

Protecting the NHS AND FRONTLINE SERVICES
The NHS is a top priority for Labour and we will always support it. The Tories used to say that too, but that was before the election.
David Cameron promised: "We will guarantee that health spending increases in real terms, in each year of the Parliament
David Cameron promised: "We will stop the top-down re-organisations of the NHS that have got in the way of patient care".
David Cameron promised: "I will protect frontline services"

Labours plan for jobs and growth
This is a really worrying time for families and businesses; struggling with higher food prices and gas bills and worried about their jobs and their children's futures. The Tory-led Government are cutting too far and too fast and risk choking off economic recovery. Unemployment is rising again and is currently at the highest level in 17 years. One in five young people are out of work and now more women are unemployed than at any time since 1988.
We need to act now to show the Tory-led Government that there is another way.
Labour has set out a clear five-point plan for jobs
Designed to help struggling families
Designed to support small businesses.
Our jobs plan includes:
1. A £2 billion tax on bank bonuses to fund 100,000 jobs for young people and build 25,000 affordable homes
2. Bringing forward long-term investment projects, like new school buildings
3. Temporarily reversing the VAT rise – a £450 boost for families with children
4. A one year cut in VAT to 5% on home improvements and repairs to help small businesses
5. A tax break for every small firm which takes on extra workers
.
Restoration work begins on HMS Alliance
Work has started to save the World War II era submarine HMS Alliance, based at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, Hampshire. It will be a memorial to 5,300 British submariners who gave their lives in service between 1904 and the present day. The vessel, which is on display on the quayside outside the museum, had begun to fall into the sea. The museum said it had been given £3.4m in lottery funding and the rest through funds and pledges. Efforts continue to meet a shortfall of £400,000.
Bridgemary takes a step down the green path
Pupils at Bridgemary School in Gosport have been taught in an outdoor classroom and taken part in practical environmental lessons.
